Dong Thap Vo Hoang Phuc, 23 years old, was sentenced to death after about 100 times of delivering drugs for hire; The wife helped sort and store the money and was sentenced to life in prison.
On September 4, Phuc and his wife Nguyen Ngoc Phuong, 23 years old, were found guilty of illegally trading in drugs by the People's Court of Dong Thap province.
In court, the two defendants admitted their actions. The jury determined that this was a simple accomplice case, with Phuc playing the mastermind role and Phuong assisting. The court assessed that their behavior was particularly dangerous for society, causing insecurity and order in the locality.
According to the indictment, Phuc said he previously knew a 31-year-old woman from Vinh Long. Because the couple did not have a job and needed money to spend, from February 2025, Phuc began contacting this person via the Threema application, accepting drug deliveries for hire.
After receiving the goods, Phuc brought them back to his room to divide them according to instructions. Every time someone buys, he is informed of the quantity, price and delivery location, then uses the electric vehicle provided by you to deliver the drugs and receive money.
In 9 months, Phuc Khai did it about 100 times, each time the goods cost from 350,000 VND to 6 million VND. On the days of the sale, Phuc was paid one million dong.
On November 18, 2025, the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department of Dong Thap Province Police coordinated with ward police to inspect a rented house in Thoi Son ward, discovering many cartons containing 5 kg of assorted meth, along with electronic scales, vacuum machines and more than 500 million VND in cash.
At the investigation agency, Phuc declared that he received a total of about 60 million VND in wages, then gave his wife 40 million VND to pay for rent and food.
The wife helps classify and store money
Phuong claimed that after about 6 months, she knew her husband was selling drugs. Although she did not directly divide or sell, she helped sort the money according to face value, bundle it into piles and put it in the safe in the bedroom.
Every month, Phuc gives his wife about 20 million VND from drug money for living expenses. When her husband requested, Phuong took money from the safe and gave it to Phuc to hand over to the supplier.
Phuong also testified that she went with her husband three times when her husband said "to dinner", but then was taken to deserted places to deliver and receive items to strangers and knew they were drugs.
As for the woman who Phuc declared to be the "shipper", after many times working with the investigation agency, this person did not admit to drug transactions with Phuc.
Inspection results of the seized phones also did not find the Threema application, accounts or information related to drug trading.
The investigation agency determined that besides Phuc's testimony, there was no other evidence to prove the woman's crime. This person has now left the locality, his residential address is unknown, so he cannot be considered and handled.
