Deepal or BYD cars, cameras, drones: worrying Chinese equipment at the heart of European armies

The great Chinese dragon is very curious when it comes to sensitive military data. Latest example: during a security exercise at Oslo airport carried out in September, National Guard soldiers had the unpleasant surprise of discovering that the Chinese vehicles rented for the occasion had captured videos and recorded navigation data, without them being informed.

It was while playing with the settings during a downtime that two soldiers noticed the existence of images stored on board: who gets into the car, who gets out, which direction is taken... “We were also able to see the codes used to open the gates. In some cases, we use magnetic cards combined with codes to pass through the gates; it was recorded on video,” explains Lieutenant Fredrik Blanck to our Norwegian colleagues at DN, who revealed the affair.
