As conflicts increase in Yemen, the wave of migration expands

Simultaneously with military developments, the wave of migration of those fleeing the west coast regions has expanded, with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) announcing that more than 82 thousand people have been displaced since the beginning of September, and among them more than 2 thousand people have reached Djibouti.

Meanwhile, local authorities in Aden (south) have begun preparations for a new camp to accommodate thousands of refugees.

Air operations in Taiz and the Red Sea coast

The Yemeni army reported that Houthis' positions and military equipment were targeted with air strikes in the Muha and Zu Bab regions in the west of Taiz province.

Military Spokesperson Colonel Majid al-Nezili, in his statement on the social media platform of the US-based company X, stated that Houthi elements were neutralized in the region defined as the "destruction area".

The statements came after the Houthis announced that they had captured the critical city and port of Muha on the Red Sea coast and some islands, including Meyyun Island, in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait.

On the other hand, Houthi Military Spokesperson Yahya Seri stated that a total of 58 air strikes were carried out in the provinces of Taiz, Lahij, al-Jawf, Hajjah, al-Bayda and Sada in the last 24 hours.

Heavy loss of life and call for blood donations

The pro-government National Resistance Forces announced that 500 of their soldiers lost their lives and approximately 1,500 were injured in the violent clashes on the west coast fronts between August 9 and September 10.

In the statement, it was stated that there were more than 1000 dead and thousands of injured in the Houthi ranks.

Following the heavy losses, Yemeni Minister of Health Kasim Buhaybih called for urgent blood donations to citizens in order to increase the emergency response capacity of health centers in the temporary capital Aden.

More than 82 thousand civilians were displaced

The humanitarian dimension of conflicts is getting worse day by day.

In the statement made by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), it was announced that more than 82 thousand people have been displaced from Taiz, Hudaydah and Lahij provinces since the beginning of September.

In the statement, it was stated that more than 2 thousand refugees reached the coast of Djibouti by sea.

Local authorities in the temporary capital Aden have started the establishment of a new refugee camp in the Al-Burayka district with a capacity of 3 to 5 thousand people.

The camp aims to provide shelter and basic health services to families fleeing from Muha, Hays and Al-Huha regions.

Diplomatic contacts for Red Sea security

Yemeni Foreign Minister Afrah ez-Zube, who increased her diplomatic initiatives after the military escalation, had a telephone conversation with her Somali counterpart Abdusselam Abdi.

During the meeting, developments in Babulmandeb and the Red Sea and threats to the security of international navigation were discussed.

The Somali side reiterated its support for preserving Yemen's sovereignty and regional security.
