Yemeni government forces reported that they recaptured Mount Kirfan in Taiz from the Houthis

Government forces in Yemen reported that they took back the strategic Kirfan Mountain, located in the Al-Shamayetyn district of Taiz province in the south of the country, from the Houthis.

According to the statement made by the Yemen Armed Forces Press Center, Taiz Axis Chief of Staff Major General Abdulaziz al-Majidi stated that government forces have gained full control of the strategic Kirfan Mountain in the Jardad region of al-Shamayetyn district.

Majidi stated that in the operation supported by the "popular resistance forces" in the Beni Omar region, control of the mountain was taken after the clashes with the Houthis positioned there.

Stating that more than 5 people from the Houthis died and about 20 people were injured in the clashes, Majidi stated that the Houthis continued to bombard the government positions in the region with mortars.

No statement has yet been made by the Houthis regarding the issue.

Kirfan Mountain is of strategic importance as it is located on the "Jerdad-Beni Omer" front mountain range between al-Shamayetyn and al-Vaziiyye districts.

Control of the hill gives government forces a significant advantage in monitoring the region and ensuring security with its firing range.
