NEW Party Ataşehir District Headquarters made statements about the detention of Murat Güneş and other municipal officials.

A statement was made in front of the NEW Party Ataşehir District Headquarters regarding the detention of 13 people, including Ataşehir Deputy Mayor Murat Güneş, within the scope of the investigation against Ataşehir Municipality by the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

Speaking in front of the municipality building, NEW Party Ataşehir District Chairman Atakan Anıl Dizdaroğlu reminded that after the arrest of the Ataşehir Mayor, they held a deputy mayor election in the municipality, and their candidate was elected with the votes of 22 municipal council members, while the other party's candidate received 14 votes.

Dizdaroğlu said:

"After we won this election with flying colors, our esteemed Provincial Chairman drew attention to a point. He said, 'Despite all kinds of pressures and conspiracies, we stood by our council members whose votes were tried to be collected by various means. We kept in close contact with them day and night and did not allow this conspiracy.' At that time, while our esteemed Provincial Chairman was uttering these words, the following discourse came from the other side: 'You are slandering. You are muddying the waters as you always do.' But unfortunately, when we see the attitude of the six council members who switched to AKP today and said 'I changed parties to act with the understanding of service', it becomes very clear how right our Provincial Chairman was that day. After these council members were transferred to AKP, they said the following about this party change, while there was no operation in our municipality yet: 'We changed parties to provide service.' Did you know that there would be an operation against this municipality or that the municipality would change hands, and you expressed this statement so easily? This situation shows this: Privacy decision. It raises suspicion of leaking information from the investigation file. The responsibility of these six members of parliament, the children of Murat Güneş, Ekrem Köse and Aytekin Şahin, who supported the AKP and did not compromise on their upright stance and did not bow to the pressures and threats, and their families are on you. In his speech, NEW Party Istanbul Provincial Chairman Özgür Çelik said that they have been displaying great resistance in the 39 districts of Istanbul and in the squares of Türkiye for two years and that they are in a period of uninterrupted struggle.

Çelik said, "Our Chairman, Mr. Özgür Özel, was in Silivri earlier in the day. Our lawyers are currently at the Vatan Police Department. They are meeting with our friends. Reminding that Ataşehir was founded in 2008, Özgür Çelik said:

"They separated Ataşehir from Kadıköy and turned it into a district. They had one purpose: 'We cannot win Kadıköy. We will never win an election in Kadıköy. If we make Ataşehir a district, maybe we will win there. We will suffer from the rent there. And in this way, we will continue our reign.' But Ataşehir has never given them an opportunity since the day it was founded. Their enthusiasm has remained in their tracks. Populist municipalism practices have been implemented in Ataşehir until now, and they realized that they will never be able to come to power in Ataşehir through a ballot box. Six months ago, they captured our Mayor Onursal Adıgüzel. Not even an indictment has been written for six months. This means that they want to punish our friends under the law of an enemy. What is it? Onursal Adıgüzel won the Ataşehir Municipality with a historical record of 57 percent of the votes. Ekrem İmamoğlu's crime is to be a presidential candidate, he has won four elections against the current government. Our Mayor of Eyüpsultan, Mithat Bülent Özmen, is currently in Ankara. Someone who was the mayor of Istanbul was removed from here and taken 500 kilometers away, to Ankara. In Mersin, our Mayor is a prisoner. They have come to such a point that they do not even hesitate to present the private images of people's homes to the public in a dishonorable and dishonorable way. You cannot handcuff the will of 86 million people in Türkiye. When the day comes, this nation will bear a very heavy responsibility for what happened in Ataşehir, what happened in Istanbul, and what happened in Türkiye." "No one should be hopeless. We will come to the polls on a Sunday and go to the polls together in a festive atmosphere. We will send this tyrannical government to the determination of history and start the institutional building process of the democratic Republic in these lands together."
