NEW Party pre-election marathon has started in Izmir: All eyes are on the Güç-Kocaoğlu race

The congress process at the NEW Party Izmir Provincial Directorate started with the pre-selection opening meeting held at Bayraklı Tepekule Congress Center.

During the period when all eyes are on Izmir politics, the current founding provincial chairman Çağatay Güç and Aziz Kocaoğlu, who served as the Metropolitan Mayor of the city for three terms, are expected to compete for the provincial chairmanship.

Before the primary election, where party members will go to the polls tomorrow, as activity increases in the party organization, all eyes are on the expected race between the two names.

Messages of NEW Party Chairman Özgür Özel and Ekrem İmamoğlu were read in the hall.

"PRESIDENT EKREM İMAMOĞLU" SLOGANS WERE SHOT IN THE HALL

While the excitement for the provincial presidency race continues in the NEW Party Izmir organization, the primary election process, one of the important stages of the congress calendar, has started.

The opening meeting held at Bayraklı Tepekule Congress Center brought together party executives, MPs and mayors.

NEW Party Deputy Chairman of Organization Ensar Aytekin, who came to Izmir to follow the congress process on site, also attended the meeting.

NEW Party Izmir MPs Murat Bakan, Gökçe Gökçen, Seda Kaya Ösen and Salih Uzun, as well as mayors and party managers were present in the hall.

ÇAĞATAY GÜÇ: “WE ARE COMING TO ESTABLISH THE POWER OF THE NATION!”

NEW Party Izmir Provincial Chairman Çağatay Güç directed harsh criticism towards the government in his speech during his party's congress.

Stating that they have opened the door to a new era by leaving the past understanding of politics behind, Güç said, "We will get rid of this government, which only counts the national will when it wins, ignores it when it loses, violates the rights of people and pits the nation against itself. We will establish the power of the nation."

Power also drew attention to the understanding of change within the party and said, "We abandoned the politics done in the halls and at the table."

Arguing that Türkiye has paid the price for years of wrong administrations, Güç said, "Everything has been happening before our eyes for years. We lost for years because of wrong governments. We remained in the opposition for years. Maybe we were angry, maybe we were angry. But we did not lose faith in our democracy, our Republic, our state for a moment. We continued on our way."

“WE WILL GET RID OF THIS GOVERNMENT”

Criticizing the government's approach to national will, Güç emphasized democracy and the will of the people.

Reminding the words of NEW Party Chairman Özgür Özel, Güç said, "As our Chairman Özgür Özel said: They are at the end of the road, we are just starting."

Stating that they are aiming for a radical change in his party's understanding of politics, Güç criticized past political attitudes.

Guc said:

"We have abandoned the politics that is done in the halls and at the desk! We have abandoned the understanding that tells even its own voters 'you will vote in full force'! We have abandoned the politics of a handful of self-interested people who have turned us against each other! We have abandoned the politicians who do not keep their word! We have abandoned the understanding of politics that flatters the government!"

Stating that they aim to strengthen social unity with a new understanding of politics, Güç said that they are against discriminatory policies.

"So what are we doing now? As the New Party, we are starting the era of the sons of the country! We are leaving behind every understanding that damages our unity, embrace and brotherhood. We are opening the door to a new era with the will of our nation," said Güç.

At the end of his speech, Güç called on the party members for unity and struggle towards the goal of power, and gave a message of hope for the future of Türkiye.

Power said, "A new government is coming with our new Party! We promise you, promise! We are coming to establish the power of the nation! We are coming to raise hope! We are coming to bring Türkiye back to its feet! Come on, Izmir, we are marching for hope, for justice, for Türkiye!" he said.

ENSAR AYTEKİN: “THE REAL POWER OF CHANGE CAME FROM THE STREET”

Addressing the party members on the first day of the NEW Party Izmir Provincial Congress, NEW Party Deputy Chairman of Organization Ensar Aytekin made statements about the functioning of the congress process, the change in the party and the success achieved in the local elections.

Stating that the Izmir organization is preparing for a democratic race, Aytekin emphasized that the will of the members will be decisive in the provincial chairmanship election.

Aytekin said, "Today, our provincial presidential candidates will take the floor and speak. They will express themselves. They will tell what kind of Izmir, what kind of NEW Party it is. Our valuable members and deputies who want to speak will speak. Tomorrow, a total of 61 thousand 111 NEW Party members in 30 districts, 50 points, 159 ballot boxes will go and elect the provincial president of Izmir. I wish good luck to our organization, our nation, and Izmir."

“WE ARE GOING THROUGH DIFFICULT TIMES”

Evaluating the political conditions that Türkiye is in, Aytekin recalled the military intervention periods in the past and said, "There is no doubt that we are going through difficult days. There are elders among us who lived and witnessed the March 12, September 12, martial law periods. So much so that the days we are living in are as good as those days."

“WE HAVE NOT FORGOT THE RESULT OF THE 2023 ELECTIONS”

Explaining that the change process in the party started after the 2023 general and presidential elections, Aytekin drew attention to the disappointment that the election night created on the organization.

Aytekin said, "Let's remember the 2023 elections. We were all happy. We believed and convinced ourselves that we would win. At the end of the day, we saw that the 2023 elections were the same as the results of the elections held for years before. I am sure none of us have forgotten that day, that night. As in many of the elections we lost, many of us locked ourselves in our homes as a result of the 2023 elections. Many of us did not want to talk. We avoided face to face, eye to eye contact."

“FIRST THE MANAGEMENT UNDERSTANDING SHOULD CHANGE”

Explaining that nine MPs came together in Ankara under the leadership of Özgür Özel after the elections, Aytekin said that the past elections and mistakes made were evaluated in the meetings.

Aytekin said, "Some time has passed. We came together in Ankara with nine deputies under the chairmanship of our Chairman Özgür Özel. We talked and discussed for a long time. We talked about the past, we made self-criticisms, we talked about our shortcomings. We talked about what to do. At the end of the day, there was only one truth that we all agreed on, agreed upon and agreed upon. That was this: If the outcome of the election nights in this country is going to change, if the fate of this country, this nation is going to change, first of all, the management approach of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's party." "It must change," he said.

“THE REAL DEMAND CAME FROM THE STREET, FROM THE NATION”

Making evaluations about the congress held on November 4-5, 2023, Aytekin stated that the change was initially supported by a small number of people, but grew with the demand from the grassroots in the process.

Aytekin said, "Our Chairman Özgür Özel appeared at the congress as a candidate. Remember those days, almost everyone except us, the entire public, those who ran the party that day, journalists, writers, did not believe that a change would come out of that congress. There were only a handful of people who believed. When we set out, we set out with a small number of people, but throughout that journey, our front, our back, our right and our left were filled with our nation, our voters, our members."

Emphasizing that the change in the congress did not occur only by the will of the administrators, Aytekin said, "At the end of the day, a first occurred in the history of the party that established the Republic. A chairman and headquarters management changed with the congress. What triggered the change? Were they candidates, were they members, was it us, were they deputies, were they mayors? No doubt, there were these too, but the real resistance, the real desire, the real pressure came from the streets, from the nation, from the organization. That day, the delegate's conscience was open to the streets, the voters, the members, and the change took place."

“WE SET OUT WITH OUR NATION, NOT WITH OUR WIFE AND FRIENDS”

Stating that preparations for the local elections on March 31, 2024 started after the congress, Aytekin stated that the opinions of the organization and the voters were consulted during the candidate selection process. Reminding that Özgür Özel promised to make the party the first party in the first election if he was elected chairman, Aytekin said that intensive work was being carried out towards this goal.

Aytekin said, "Our Chairman made a promise at that congress. 'If I am elected as the chairman, I will make Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's party the first party in the first election. If I cannot do it, I will convene the congress that night and quit my duty.' He said. Work began after the congress. We had a period of four or five months ahead of us. We knitted things together. In some places, we asked the members and held a preliminary election. In some places, we conducted surveys, field studies and research. In some places, we called on our organization." "We asked, we sent delegations to some places, we asked citizens, non-governmental organizations and various opinion leaders on the street."

Stating that there has been a change in the approach to nominating candidates, Aytekin said, "We entered a race with the candidates who will win the election in that province, district. We did not go on a journey with our spouses, friends, friends, as in the past. We set out with our organization and our nation."

“WE BECAME THE FIRST PARTY AFTER 47 YEARS”

Stating that the March 31 local elections were a historical turning point in political terms, Aytekin said, "On March 31, 2024, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's party became the first party again after 47 years. We all experienced the pride, honor, joy and excitement of that day. Gone are the days when we turned off the lights early on election nights and locked ourselves in our homes for years. We could not fully experience our joy and joy because we forgot to rejoice and joy."

“WE WRITE A NEW HISTORY IN IZMIR”

Evaluating the local election results from the Aegean Region, Aytekin drew attention to the importance of the success achieved in the region.

Recalling the election results in Balıkesir, Denizli, Uşak, Afyonkarahisar and Manisa, Aytekin said that a strong result was also obtained in Izmir.

Aytekin said, "We became the first party in nine of the nine provinces in the Aegean Region. Such a first place that we became the first with an overwhelming superiority. Look, in Balıkesir, we won 15 of the 20 municipalities and metropolitan cities for the first time in the history of Balıkesir and the history of the Republic. We won Denizli, we won Uşak, we won Afyon, we won Manisa. We also won a stronger position in İzmir. "In this way, we wrote a new history by winning 29 of the 31 municipalities, including the metropolitan municipality," he said.

"DID IZMIR LOST BECAUSE A TRAITOR BETRAYED ME?"

Stating that Izmir's political stance has not changed, Aytekin said that the organization continues on its way stronger despite the party changes.

Making evaluations on the mayors who changed parties, Aytekin described the events as betrayal. Stating that different allegations and suggestions came to the fore after the elections, Aytekin said that no one thought that such a situation would be encountered one day.

Recalling the chairman's words towards those who changed parties, Aytekin said, "Our Chairman said, 'If your hand had been broken, you would not have signed that signature.'"

Emphasizing that Izmir's political choice will not change with the decision of a few people, Aytekin said: "So, did Izmir's stance change because a traitor betrayed me, or because one or more of them were sold? Has Izmir been lost? Never. Izmir has never gone away. Izmir stands tall where it is, stronger. It is obvious from this hall, it is obvious from the excitement in this hall, it is obvious from the street. It will be obvious at the ballot box in the first election."

“THE REAL VICTORY IS WINNING THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION”

Referring to the success of his party in the last local elections, Aytekin said that being the first party is important, but this is not seen as the final goal.

Aytekin said, "We made the party the first party. We experienced its pride and honor. But we did not call this a victory. The real victory will be in the next general elections, by winning the Presidential election."

Recalling the promises that he would resign if the goal of power is not achieved in the general elections, Aytekin stated that they started preparations for the general election immediately after the local elections.

Aytekin said, "We didn't just lie down, we didn't sit around and watch. We prepared for the general elections the next day."

“WE ORGANIZED THE RESPONSIBLE PEOPLE IN 186 THOUSAND 866 BALLOT BOXES”

Explaining the organizational efforts carried out for election security throughout Türkiye, Aytekin reminded the criticism that the ballot boxes were left unattended in the past elections.

Stating that they have established an organizational model that can reach all the voters, Aytekin said, "Elections are lost at the ballot box, it is true. Every election day, we all know the sentences 'We had no officials at such and such a ballot box, we were unattended at such and such a ballot box, the ballot boxes were left unattended'. Because they were all true."

Aytekin gave the following information about the extent of the work carried out within the scope of preparation for the elections:

"For the elections to be held three years later, for the first time in Turkey, we started to organize the ballot box officers in 192 thousand 812 ballot boxes, along with their substitutes and neighborhood representatives. At the end of a six-month careful study, we determined the responsible persons in 186 thousand 866 ballot boxes. Not by referring them to the organization or sending the organization a letter. We did it by establishing a coordination team at the headquarters, meeting them one by one, calling them, describing their duties, explaining them, and then providing training."

Stating that the ballot box officers will not only work on the election day, but will communicate directly with the voters until the elections, Aytekin said, "We assigned three hundred voters to that person and said, 'You will meet the three hundred people in the ballot box you are responsible for until the election day. You will say that you are the ballot box officer of Atatürk's party in the ballot box where you voted. You will develop a friendship relationship.'"

“THIS ORGANIZATIONAL MODEL WAS NOT IN THE CENTURY-YEAR-OLD PARTY”

Aytekin said that the election campaigns carried out in the past were insufficient to reach all the voters and gave examples from his field studies in Anatolia.

Stating that he traveled to 81 provinces of Türkiye, Aytekin argued that the party was not well known by the citizens in Anatolia. Aytekin said, "Citizens do not recognize the party that founded the Republic in Anatolia. It is not that they do not recognize it, they know it incorrectly. A citizen in a village in Anatolia describes me as CHP. The party that I am a member of and that I have been in since youth branches is not that party."

Stating that the responsibility for this situation lies not with the citizens, but with the understanding of organization, Aytekin said, "So who has this fault, who has this deficiency? Is it the citizens? Never. It is us, our way of organizing, our model. Because we are organized in the provinces, we are organized in the districts. We are organized under the district."
