Rain of fees and fines for citizens in the new year: The raise bill for 2027 has become clear

A heavy tax, fee and penalty table awaits citizens who are crushed under the economic crisis and high inflation in 2027. With the announcement of the Domestic Producer Price Index (D-PPI) data by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) for October, the Revaluation Rate (RDO) to be applied in the new year was calculated as 27.83 percent.

This 12-month average change rate, which is used as the basis for updating taxes, fees and various administrative fines every year, means a "rain of raises" in all areas of life in the new year. If the President does not make a change in the rates by using his legal authority, Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV), driver's license and passport fees and traffic fines will be a burden.

IMEI REGISTRATION FEE IS WORTH A FORTUNE

The astronomical increase in the IMEI registration fee paid for mobile phones brought from abroad to be used in Türkiye will continue in the new year. The registration fee, which was 54 thousand 258 liras in 2026, will reach 69 thousand 391 liras with an increase of 27.83 percent. The telephone line initial subscription facility fee is expected to increase from 700 lira to 895 lira.

A difficult year awaits vehicle owners. In the current tariff, the sample MTV amount, which is 12 thousand 28 lira for new vehicles with an engine volume of 1300-1600 cm³, will increase to 15 thousand 383 lira with the new year.

COST OF FIGHT IN TRAFFIC: 230 THOUSAND LIRA

With the new valuation rate, traffic fines have also reached jaw-dropping levels. Sanctions, especially for traffic violence and rule violations, amount to hundreds of thousands of liras.

Costs of going abroad will also receive their share from the revaluation rate. Following the 27.83 percent increase in fee amounts, the new tariff expected for passport, driver's license and international departure fees is as follows:

While the slices in the income tax tariff are expected to be updated based on this rate, different increase rates may be applied to some taxes and fees within the scope of legal regulations and the powers granted to the President.
