Fighting Forest Fires in Greece

According to the news in the Greek press, 32 firefighters, 3 pedestrian response teams and 2 vehicles intervened in the fire that broke out in the forest area in the Katafito region of Drama province. 2 aircraft and 2 helicopters also participated in the extinguishing efforts.

It was reported that 42 firefighters, 2 pedestrian response teams and 14 vehicles intervened in the fire that broke out in the forest area in the Neromana region of Aetolia-Akarnania, while the work was supported from the air by 1 plane and 1 helicopter.

Due to the fire in Neromana, a message was sent to those in the area via the 112 Emergency Line and citizens were asked to be ready and follow the instructions of the authorities.

The fire in Messinia was intervened by 48 firefighters, 2 pedestrian response teams and 17 vehicles. 4 planes and 1 helicopter participated in the extinguishing efforts, and municipal water tankers also supported the teams.

Due to the fire in Mesohori, a warning message was sent to those in the region via 112.

A forest fire broke out in the Peloponnese

On the other hand, according to the statement made by the Greek Fire Brigade, it broke out in the forest and agricultural area in the Hrani region of Arkadia province in the Peloponnese.

The fire extinguishing efforts, which are carried out by 32 fire personnel on the ground, are supported by 2 helicopters and 4 aircraft from the air.

There have been 29 forest fires in the last 24 hours.

Other regions where fire broke out today were the Katafito region of the Drama province, the Neromana region of the Aetolia-Akarnania province, the Mesohori region of the Messinia province, the Komito Karisto region of the Euboea Island, the part between the Zaniana and Livadia regions of the Crete Island, and the Tempi region of the Larisa province.

The General Secretariat of Civil Protection of Greece warned that there would be a high risk of fire in regions such as Attica, Viotia, Ftiotis, Preveza, Corinth, the Peloponnese Peninsula and the Ionian Islands today, and asked citizens to be careful.
