The special prosecutor team investigating remaining suspicions after the 3rd special prosecutor's investigation has summoned former Prosecutor General Shim Woo-jung to appear on the 24th regarding allegations of involvement in mutiny. Shim is suspected of reviewing the dispatch of prosecutors to the joint investigation headquarters under the martial law commander's order on the day martial law was declared.

A special counsel team raided the Supreme Prosecutors Office on Thursday to investigate former Prosecutor General Shim Woo-jung's alleged involvement in former President Yoon Suk Yeol's failed martial law attempt in December 2024. Shim is suspected of reviewing the possible dispatch of public prosecutors to a martial law investigation headquarters and holding three phone calls with then Justice Minister Park Sung-jae. The investigation also covers Shim's decision not to appeal Yoon's release from custody in March 2025. Yoon was sentenced to life imprisonment in February 2026 for leading an insurrection and remains in custody while appealing.
