Man whose wife died from brain tumour to compete in Ironman triathlon
Alan Johnstone, 41, from Dumfries, is undertaking an Ironman triathlon in Austria in June 2027 to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity in memory of his wife Anneka, who died from an aggressive glioblastoma in November 2019, six months after diagnosis. The former RAF engineer, who has never had a swimming lesson, must complete a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and 26.2-mile run. He has already raised over £100,000 for research into the disease that killed his wife, their daughter Sienna was 13 months old when her mother died.
