Lin Chi-ling withdrew from the board of the Taiwan Creative Content Agency after backlash from the island’s arts community and Beijing. Chen Binhua, spokesman for Beijing’s Taiwan Affairs Office, praised the decision, stating TAICCA had funded productions that “distort history and hype the ‘mainland threat’”, serving as a “political tool for the Democratic Progressive Party to advance ‘cultural Taiwan independence’”. Beijing views Taiwan as part of China, to be reunified by force if necessary. The US opposes force but supplies Taiwan with weapons.

The move highlights escalating tensions over cultural autonomy and political influence.
