
Congress Fails to Extend Key Surveillance Law, Section 702 of FISA Expires
Congress failed to extend Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), which expired Thursday night. The House rejected a short-term extension, with nearly 20 Republicans joining Democrats. Senator Ron Wyden also blocked extensions in the Senate. Concerns over President Trump's potential appointment of Bill Pulte as director of national intelligence, and his past insinuations against Fed board member Lisa Cook, have fueled opposition.
