DPP Secretary-General Xu Guoyong and Taipei Mayoral Candidate Shen Boyang called today (2nd) that the 2026 National Youth Flagship Camp will be held in Taipei from July 24 to 26. It is expected to recruit 80 young people aged 18 to 30 who care about public affairs. They will explore political staff work through courses, visits and internships, and will also have the opportunity to join the DPP's auxiliary election ranks in the future.
The Central Party Committee of the Democratic Progressive Party held a press conference for the "2026 State Youth Flagship Camp_Your Democracy You Need Democracy" today. Xu Guoyong said that in recent years, the DPP has launched programs such as the State Youth Flagship Camp, the Washington Diplomacy Training Camp, and the Virtue Youth Training Program in the areas of international diplomacy, academic development, and deepening democracy to comprehensively and systematically promote youth participation in public affairs. He pointed out that cultivating young generations is not only to cultivate talents for the DPP, but also to cultivate future hope for the country.
Shen Boyang pointed out that Taiwanese society has a very high election turnout rate, and the deepening of Taiwan's democracy has also moved towards the 2.0 and 3.0 stages. However, civil society discussions on issues need to continue to deepen and allow young people to participate in substantive ways, so that Taiwan's democracy can truly continue to move forward. Shen Boyang said that the National Youth Flagship Camp is one of the ways for young people to participate in the deepening of democracy. He hopes that more young partners will participate in public participation and grassroots discussions, so that more partners who care about public affairs can be cultivated and work together for Taiwan in the future.
Legislator Wu Peiyi, who is also the chairman of the Taipei City Party Headquarters of the Democratic Progressive Party, mentioned that he started out as a staff member, serving as a councilor, legislator, and the newly elected chairman of the city party headquarter. He received solid training and cultivation in the Democratic Progressive Party. In the past few years, the Youth Ministry has systematically trained the new generation to become "National Youth", allowing young people to actually participate in public affairs and accumulate experience. When she was running for the Legislative Council, some of her young associates from the National Youth Service accompanied her through the streets of Zhongzheng Wanhua, interacting with people and asking for their votes.
Huang Shengwen, director of the Youth Department of the Democratic Progressive Party, said that the State Youth Flagship Camp entered its seventh year this year and has become an introductory camp for young people to participate in public affairs and political work. This year's theme is "You need democracy", and we hope to show that democracy should not be just a slogan, but that everyone needs to have a deep understanding of Taiwan's democracy through their concrete actions and actual participation, and have the opportunity to participate in the Democratic Progressive Party's auxiliary election work in the future.
The Youth Department of the Democratic Progressive Party added that the three-day and two-night "2026 State Youth Flagship Camp" will also invite lecturers at all levels from the Presidential Office, the Legislative Yuan, the Executive Council, the Central Party Committee and local councils. The lineup is luxurious and the courses are exciting. Young people aged 18 to 30 in Taiwan are invited to complete the registration before June 21 and join in the deepening of Taiwan's democracy.
