State Duma deputy warned of the threat of nuclear conflict due to NATO actions in the Arctic

NATO's activities in the Arctic could cause a full-fledged military conflict with Russia with the use of nuclear weapons. This collision condition was named by Andrei Kolesnik, a member of the State Duma Defense Committee, in an interview with Gazeta.Ru.

“If a war starts in the Arctic, it will not end with any conventional weapons. Completely different types of weapons will be used - this is nuclear history, a nuclear conflict,” the deputy noted.

Kolesnik pointed out that the entire nuclear potential of Russia is located in the Arctic and NATO countries know about it. Now the alliance, through military exercises and information influence, is trying to influence Moscow so that the Russian side begins to lose ground in the region, the parliamentarian added.

In April, it became known that Great Britain was increasing its military activity in the Arctic and threatening to seize the Russian “shadow fleet.” It was alleged that London had significantly increased intelligence activity against Russia, including focusing on warships.
