Former Taean County Governor Gasero plans to file a complaint with the police... Claims ‘illegal manipulation of solicitation investigation’

Gasero, the former governor of Taean County, South Chungcheong Province, plans to report the police officer who investigated him.

Former County Governor Ga said at a press conference held at the Taean County Office on the 30th, "This investigation was an illegal and fabricated investigation faithfully carried out according to a script by two subordinate police officers who received a contract from an invisible hand." He added, "We will file a legal complaint against the chief and team leader of the South Chungcheong National Police Agency's criminal task force and firmly hold them accountable."

At the same time, he asked, “Furthermore, in a situation where there was no change in the case or any specific reason, why did the police suddenly transfer the case to the prosecution on April 3, four days before the Taean-gun mayoral primary of the Democratic Party of Korea in the national simultaneous local elections?” and asked, “Isn’t this still an investigation into illegal manipulation of solicitation?”

He added, "I can't believe that a former police chief can suffer like this in an investigation conducted by the police while abusing public power, and I am filled with anger as to how this can happen." He added, "There should be no more cases of people's human rights being violated like this incident, which left an indelible stain on the most important process in the history of the police, the separation of investigative powers."

Former county governor Ga was eliminated from the party's primary after the fact that he was being sent to prosecutors became known.

He has been under investigation on charges of receiving 3 gold toads (equivalent to 10 million won at the time) in return for promotion to administrative officer in July 2022 from Mr. A, a public official in Taean-gun, through Mr. B, a local businessman and broker (violation of the Anti-Corruption Act and accepting bribes).

However, on the 22nd, the Seosan Branch of the Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office decided not to indict both former County Governor Ga and Mr. A and B due to insufficient evidence.
