Trump: Very good meeting with the Iranian delegation in New York

(CNN) - US President Donald Trump said that members of his administration met with the Iranian delegation on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meetings in New York for about three hours, in what he briefly described as a "very good meeting."

“It went well; it was a very good meeting,” Trump told reporters, sitting next to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Trump indicated that Iran has two options: either “potential greatness” through a peace agreement, or “total destruction.”

Trump added: "There are two options. In one case, the fate is total destruction, and the other alternative is potential greatness, as (Iran) can be a great country."

In his speech before the United Nations General Assembly, Trump expressed his belief that “we will conclude an agreement immediately after the elections, as it does not make sense for them not to do so,” he said.
