According to Kleckner, deputies often turn the parliamentary rostrum into a stage for recording videos on social networks and speak off-topic.

In early September, the Bundestag held heated debates on the results of the elections in Saxony-Anhalt, during which the leader of the victorious Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, Alice Weidel, accused German Chancellor Friedrich Merz of the collapse of the German economy, and he responded by calling the AfD a destructive force. Merz's speech was accompanied by whistles, cheers and shouts from parliamentarians from opposition factions.

“If the situation escalates, I will expel the entire faction from the hall. I have this right as the chairman of parliament,” Klöckner said in an interview with the Funke media group.

Klöckner indicated that the warning primarily concerns the opposition factions AfD and Left, which, according to her, lead in the number of reprimands issued for violating regulations.

Arguing her position, the chairman of the Bundestag complained about the low level of debate in the German parliament.

“Of course, meetings can be heated, this is completely understandable. But when it is not the discussion that comes to the fore, but discrediting, when it is not the arguments that are attacked, but the personality itself, then, I think, it becomes dangerous,” Kleckner said, adding that in such conditions, achieving compromises becomes impossible.
