Semyon Slepakov was sentenced in absentia to compulsory labor in the case of a foreign agent

The magistrate of the Lomonosovsky district of Moscow sentenced comedian Semyon Slepakov in absentia to 400 hours of compulsory labor in the case of evading the duties of a foreign agent, a RIA Novosti correspondent reports from the courtroom.

“Sentence to Slepakov in the form of compulsory labor for a period of 400 hours,” the court decided.

According to the investigation, Slepakov was brought to administrative responsibility twice during the year for violating the established procedure for carrying out the activities of an individual performing the functions of a foreign agent (Part 4 of Article 19.34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation). At the same time, while abroad, he continued to publish materials on the social network without the foreign agent tag.

Such a crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to two years. The prosecutor asked the artist for 400 hours of compulsory work.

Slepakov was arrested in absentia in the Russian Federation and put on the wanted list. Through his lawyer, he told the court that he considered the case illegal and subject to termination. The defense asked to acquit him.

The artist was recognized as a foreign agent in April 2023. From the message on the Ministry of Justice website it follows that the comedian received support from foreign sources, opposed the special military operation in Ukraine, and formed a negative attitude towards military and public service.
