China News Service, Urumqi, September 3 (Hu Jiachen, Chen Chao, Shi Zhihui) Reporters learned from the Xinjiang Karasu Port on the 3rd that from January to August this year, the port imported and exported nearly 18,000 commercial vehicles and more than 40,000 people entering and exiting, a year-on-year increase of nearly 20% and over 30% respectively. In August, the port imported and exported more than 3,700 commercial vehicles in a single month, and more than 700 people went out of the country.

Karasu Port is located in the northwest of Taxkorgan Tajik Autonomous County, Kashgar Prefecture, Xinjiang. It is the only land port between China and Tajikistan. Since the beginning of this year, cross-border economic and trade exchanges at this port have continued to heat up. In the first eight months, the number of people entering and exiting the port and the number of vehicles cleared have both hit record highs.

It is reported that the Karasu Entry-Exit Border Inspection Station continues to deepen customs clearance facilitation measures and implements the delayed customs clearance mechanism on a regular basis. Customs clearance is delayed for 1 to 1.5 hours at the port exit channel and about 2 hours at the entry channel. Basically, vehicles can be inspected as they arrive and leave as they come.

At the same time, the Xinjiang border inspection department took the initiative to strengthen communication and cooperation with the Tajikistan border inspection department, linking the joint inspection units at the port to open up business connection congestion points, optimize the entire customs clearance process, effectively shorten the vehicle waiting time for inspection, and greatly improve the overall customs clearance efficiency.
