Zelensky: U.S. proposes trilateral peace talks between Russia and Ukraine at the end of October

(Istanbul = Yonhap News) Correspondent Kim Dong-ho = Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on the 4th (local time) that the United States has proposed holding peace talks mediated between Russia and Ukraine within this month.

According to AFP, President Zelensky met with reporters and said, "The United States is currently in contact with Ukraine and Russia, and we are proposing a plan to hold three-party working-level talks by the end of October."

President Zelensky said he spoke with the U.S. delegation the day before and said, "They confirmed that our side is ready to cooperate with this schedule."

President Zelenskyy did not specify the location of the meeting, but added, "We are willing to accept meetings in other countries proposed by the United States, such as the United Arab Emirates (UAE)."

Last month, Russian Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said of the possibility of resuming trilateral talks mediated by the United States, "We are talking about the near future. We are tentatively considering October, and the possibility cannot be ruled out."

Previously, President Zelenskyy selected the UAE, Switzerland, and Turkicye as candidate locations for the meeting, and the Kremlin appears to be focusing on Abu Dhabi, UAE.
