Mandatory genomic registration of migrants helped identify about 10 thousand people who were of operational interest and were wanted.

Among those discovered thanks to genomic registration are 14 people who committed serial crimes in different years.

About a thousand people were detained who committed grave and especially grave crimes related to murder, rape and robbery.

MOSCOW, September 29 - RIA Novosti. Mandatory genomic registration of migrants helped to find 14 people who committed serial crimes in different years, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.

Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev on Tuesday published a video in a channel on the Max platform and said that as part of the work of the Security Council commission on migration policy, he became familiar with Moscow’s experience in introducing new mechanisms for monitoring migrants.

“The direction that was adopted by federal law is a mandatory procedure for obtaining a genome, the so-called genomic registration... This allowed us to detect about 10 thousand people who were of operational interest and were wanted. Of these, 14 people who committed serial crimes in different years, up to ten years ago,” Sobyanin said as part of the commission’s work.

The mayor also noted that about a thousand people were detained who committed serious and especially serious crimes related to murder, rape and robbery.
