Child found with loaded gun in Michigan kindergarten, parent arrested

A child was found with a loaded gun in a Canton County day care center in Michigan.

One of the child’s parents has been arrested, the investigation continues, and the materials will be transferred to the prosecutor’s office.

WASHINGTON, September 29 - RIA Novosti. Police in Canton County, Michigan, arrested one of the parents of a child who came to kindergarten with a loaded gun, law enforcement officials told RIA Novosti.

"The police department responded to a call that a child was found with a loaded handgun at a local day care center. Officers quickly responded to the scene, seized the weapon and began an investigation that led to the arrest of one of the parents," police said.

As law enforcement officers indicated, the investigation into the case continues, and its materials will subsequently be transferred to the prosecutor's office for a decision on whether to file charges.

Police said there is no threat to the public due to the incident.
