China News Service, Dongguan, October 2 (Reporter Xu Qingqing) The 2026 Dongguan Green Road Cycling Carnival along the Dongjiang Leading District, organized by the Dongguan City "Hundreds and Thousands Project" Headquarters Office, was held on the 1st. With the opening of this green road along the Dongjiang River, the total length of the green road in Dongguan has exceeded 1,000 miles, and the seamless connection of green roads across the entire region has basically been achieved.

Dongjiang is the mother river of Dongguan. In the past, the slow-moving system along the Dongjiang River had many breakpoints and obstacles, like a string of scattered beads. In order to completely solve the problems of fragmentation and breakpoint obstruction of the slow-travel system along the Dongjiang River, Dongguan has arranged and opened up 14 breakpoints in the six towns and streets of Guancheng, Dongcheng, Chashan, Shipai, Qishi, and Qiaotou one by one. The total length of the 9.67-kilometer road section strictly complies with the cross-section standard of "2.5-meter cycling track + 2.0-meter running track + 1.5-meter walking track" to build a composite riverside slow-moving system. On the eve of the National Day, the 64-kilometer Dongjiang Blue Road was fully connected, and environmental improvements, landscape improvements, node renovations, and supporting station facilities along the route were all implemented and took effect.
The route of this cycling carnival extends entirely along the river, starting from the Tea Garden Party Plaza in Chashan Town and ending at Binjiang Sports Park in Shipai Town. It runs through the core demonstration sections of Chashan, Shilong and Shipai, connecting the remains of ancient villages, water conservancy landmarks, and coastal areas. River Park, special inns, sports venues, etc. During the ride, you can change the scenery step by step, and the field of vision is clear and wide. During the ride, many people slowed down deliberately and stopped to take photos and check in; some people moved forward all the way to enjoy the fun of chasing the wind.
It is reported that since this year, Dongguan has adhered to the construction idea of planning and implementation at the same time, creating a development pattern of "using the Dongjiang River as a vine, using vines to form melons, and using beads to form a chain", with the main water system of the Dongjiang River as the main axis of development, and the Big Road and Dongjiang River. The road is upgraded and transformed into a traffic green vein, systematically connecting the ecological resources, historical context, town and village style, and landscape nodes along the route, and striving to create the most beautiful ecological corridor on the east coast of the Bay Area, a Dongguan riverside historical and cultural belt, and a demonstration zone for the coordinated development of towns and villages.
Relevant departments of Dongguan City stated that they will take the completion of the entire line of Bidao as a new starting point, continue to deepen the construction of a high-quality development leading area for towns and villages along the Dongjiang River, continue to promote the upgrading and reconstruction of Dongjiang Avenue, improve the quality of nodes along the line, ecological environment management, revitalize historical context and cultivate cultural tourism formats, and continue to improve Bidao slow travel, leisure sports, commercial supporting facilities, and public service systems. We will continue to polish the unique nodes such as Dongguan’s memory, century-old railway bridge, water conservancy remains, prayer culture, drinking water and remembering its source, so as to better integrate ecological resources, historical context, and riverside space.
