The president of PSG and the head of AEK asked Čeferin to be re-elected as UEFA president

Paris Saint-Germain President and Chairman of the Association of European Clubs Nasser Al-Khelaifi called on UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin to run again for the post of head of the organization. RIA Novosti reports this with reference to journalist Ben Jacobs.

The statement was made at the 33rd General Assembly of the European Clubs Association in Copenhagen, which took place from September 28 to 30. Al-Khelaifi spoke on behalf of more than 900 clubs included in the association.

“Football needs great leaders like you and on behalf of the more than 900 clubs in the European Club Association we ask you to stand for president again next year. We need you,” said the head of PSG.

The president of the French club also joked about the frequency of communication with the head of UEFA. “I know that you are tired of my daily calls and messages with all our requests from clubs. Sometimes I feel like I call you more often than your wife,” Al-Khelaifi added.

Ceferin has headed UEFA since September 2016. In February 2024, the Slovenian functionary announced that he would not participate in the UEFA presidential elections scheduled for 2027.
