Chiayi City West District National Sports Center completed, trial operation free from 11/9~11/15

The Chiayi City Government received a NT$200 million subsidy from the Ministry of Sports and spent a total of NT$610 million to build the "National Sports Center" on Dafu Road in the West District. It is completed today. In addition to physical fitness facilities, classrooms and comprehensive courts, the gym also has a rare 4-in-1 functional swimming pool in the country. It will be in trial operation from November 9 to 15. All courses and courts in the gym are free.

The inauguration ceremony was held this afternoon. Undersecretary of the Department of Sports Yang Qiwen, Chiayi Mayor Huang Minhui, many Chiayi City Councilors and district mayors were present to participate in the grand ceremony.

According to a briefing from the Municipal Education Department, the West District National Sports Center will start construction on May 25, 2024, and the design changes will be completed on January 30 this year. It will be completed on May 4, and acceptance will be completed on September 4. After completion, it will be operated and managed by Dancing Sunshine Co., Ltd.

According to a briefing from the Municipal Education Department, the swimming pool on the first floor is a rare swimming pool in the country that combines four functions: competition training, teaching, parent-child recreation, and sports promotion. It is equipped with 8 standard 50-meter-long swimming lanes, which can train swimmers and hold swimming events; the comprehensive court on the second floor can accommodate 6 badminton courts or 1 basketball court and 2 badminton courts. It is equipped with lift lighting. It also plans multi-functional classrooms, children's physical fitness activities and recreational spaces.

The fitness room has special areas for senior citizens and women.

The West District National Sports Center will be open for free trial operation from November 9th to 15th.
