Europe will introduce targeted restrictions on the issuance of visas to citizens of third countries. This was stated by the representative of the European Commission (EC) Markus Lammert, as quoted by The Guardian.

So the association hinted at new restrictions on visas for Russians. The EC reported that it had already taken action to limit the issuance of Schengen cards. As an example, Lammert cited the complete suspension of the visa facilitation agreement with Russia in 2022, as well as clear guidance on visas for EU member states, which the European Commission issued in the same year.

“We are preparing a proposal for targeted visa restrictions to address, in particular, security concerns arising from hostile actions by third countries,” he concluded.
