Drone attack kills 13, injures 22 in Sudan's North Kordofan state

China News Service, Beijing, September 9. Khartoum News: On the afternoon of September 8, local time, a drone attack occurred in Umluwaba City, North Kordofan State, central Sudan, killing 13 people and injuring 22 others.

Based on information from the Sudanese Tribune and other media, the Sudanese non-governmental organizations Sudan Doctors Network and Emergency Lawyers Initiative confirmed that the Sudanese paramilitary organization Rapid Support Forces carried out the attack at the judicial headquarters in Umluaba city. It was during peak hours and the area was crowded with civilians.

The Sudan Doctors Network and the Emergency Lawyers Initiative strongly condemned the attack, calling the targeting of judicial facilities and civilians a serious violation of international humanitarian law.

The Sudan Doctors Network calls for an immediate end to attacks on cities, residential areas and civilian facilities. The agency also urged the international community to put pressure on the leadership of the Rapid Support Forces and hold them fully accountable.

So far, the Rapid Support Force has not responded to the attack.

In April 2023, an armed conflict broke out between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces in the capital Khartoum, and the war subsequently spread to other parts of Sudan. The conflict, which has lasted for more than three years, has killed tens of thousands of people so far.

Entering 2026, the number of drone attacks in Sudan has increased significantly, posing a serious threat to civilian lives and the safety of civilian facilities. (over)
