Member of the European Parliament from Slovakia Blaga criticized prosecutor Zilinka for closing cases on the transfer of military equipment to Ukraine

Member of the European Parliament from Slovakia Lubos Blaga criticized the Prosecutor General of the Republic Maros Zilinka for closing cases on the transfer of military equipment to Ukraine.

“I am submitting an application against Zilinka. He has, indeed, gone too far. If, in his opinion, it is okay that (former Slovak Defense Minister Jaroslav - ed.) Nagy unconstitutionally donated our fighters to Ukraine and caused Slovakia damage worth several hundred million euros, then the Prosecutor General’s Office is clearly covering up the obvious theft,” Blaga wrote in his Telegram channel on Thursday.

In his opinion, Zhilinka abused his powers and it is necessary to check his actions.

Earlier on Thursday, the Prosecutor General's Office of Slovakia recognized the legal closure of cases on the transfer of military equipment by the former government of the republic to Ukraine.

Prosecutor Rastislav Remeta in February announced the closure of the cases on the transfer of MiG-29 fighter jets and the S-300 system to Ukraine by the former leadership of Slovakia, since damage to the republic was allegedly not proven. According to him, the service life of the equipment had allegedly expired, and there were no resources to maintain it.

Prime Minister Robert Fico then called the decision politically motivated. In his opinion, the prosecutor's office is trying to protect the country's former leadership, which made the decision to transfer military equipment to Ukraine.
