In the Tver region, a 65-year-old local resident was sentenced to 14 years in prison after being found guilty of organizing the massacre of a retired couple in 1998. The capital's prosecutor's office reports this in its MAX.

As the court found, on December 10, 1998, the convict, disguised as a dacha buyer, came to the veteran prosecutor’s office and his wife along with her accomplices. Together they attacked the victim and subjected him to torture. The man's hands were tied, a rope was tied around his neck and, threatening with a knife, they demanded that he give up money and valuables.
