Taihan Electric Wire wins KRW 146.3 billion worth of East Coast-East Seoul ultra-high voltage transmission line construction project

Taihan Electric Wire announced in a public announcement on the 17th that it has won an order for the 500㎸ ultra-high voltage direct current transmission (HVDC) East Coast-East Seoul construction project (EP 2 phase) promoted by Korea Electric Power Corporation.

The contract size is 146.3 billion won including VAT. Taihan Electric Wire plans to carry out the manufacturing and supply of 500 kV HVDC cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) cables and related accessory materials to construction in a turnkey (batch production) manner.

The East Coast-East Seoul HVDC project is a project to build a national core power grid to stably supply electricity produced by nuclear power, thermal power generation, and large-scale renewable energy generation in the East Coast region to the metropolitan area.

This project consisted of two tools for 500 kV class HVDC power lines and one tool for 70 kV class neutral lines. Taihan Electric Wire plans to supply and install approximately 86km of 500kV HVDC XLPE cable system.

An official from Taihan Electric Wire said, "Based on our experience in carrying out domestic HVDC projects, we will further increase our competitiveness in the national power grid business, including the West Coast Energy Expressway, and the global power grid market, and expand our role as a company that contributes to the establishment of a stable power grid and energy transition."
