Shanghai Youjia Technology Co., Ltd. recalls 1,500 pieces of kitchen towels due to excessive acrylamide content

China News Service, Beijing, August 19 (Zuo Yuqing) Recently, the Shanghai Municipal Market Supervision Bureau issued an announcement saying that Shanghai Youjia Technology Co., Ltd. recalled 1,500 pieces of its Youjia kitchen towels because the acrylamide content of this batch of paper towels was too high, which may cause harm to consumers' health, and consumers should stop using them immediately.

According to the recall announcement, this batch of paper towels was produced on January 21, 2026, with a specification of 210×195mm (2 layers). The company involved will publish the recall plan on the official WeChat public account and arrange returns.

Acrylamide is an organic compound that is mainly used in industry to produce polyacrylamide, which is widely used in water treatment, oil mining, papermaking and other fields. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) lists acrylamide as a Group 2A carcinogen, which is "possibly carcinogenic to humans." GB/T 26174-2023 "Kitchen Paper Towels" shows that the acrylamide content of kitchen paper towels should not be greater than 0.1mg/kg.

On August 19, the customer service of the multi-platform Youjia flagship store told reporters that the problematic batches of this paper towel have been stopped and sealed, and the sales link has been removed from the shelves. Some customer service said that the supplier of this tissue has been changed. If you have concerns about other similar products of the same batch, you can request a refund or exchange.
