A boy who worked as a driver withdrew 1.53 million. His parents shouted, "I can't control it." It was useless and they had to pay compensation.

A young man surnamed Wu joined a fake investment fraud group as a driver and arranged to receive 1.5392 million yuan from the victim. The victim later filed a civil lawsuit against the young man and his parents. The judge found that the parents failed to fulfill their supervision obligations and ruled that the young man and his parents must jointly and severally compensate more than 1.53 million yuan.

The verdict pointed out that the fraud group promoted stock investment through communication software and recommended the victim to register a fake "Rolex Investment Platform", pretending to be a sure profit without losing money. Believing it to be true, the victim prepared cash of NT$1.5392 million in January last year and went to the designated place on Wuying Road, Fengshan District, Kaohsiung City to wait. The young man surnamed Wu, who was under 18 years old at the time, followed the group's instructions, drove to the scene, took the victim's cash in person, and quickly handed it over to the upstream to create a breakpoint in the cash flow. The victim was shocked when he realized that he had been deceived and called the police. The young man was arrested and handed over to the juvenile court for ruling.

Unwilling to suffer the loss, the victim filed a lawsuit against the boy surnamed Wu and his parents. During the trial in the Kaohsiung District Court, the boy surnamed Wu argued that he was just a grassroots rider who followed the instructions from the upstream to collect money and should not bear all the liability for compensation. The boy's parents said that their son was living alone away from home and making careless friends. They could not control him at all, and his financial capacity was limited. They hoped to settle for 200,000 yuan.

The judge believed that joint tortfeasors should be jointly and severally liable for all damages suffered by the victim, and would not be exempted based on the division of labor. Moreover, the parents of the young boy named Wu did not provide evidence that they had fulfilled their supervisory responsibilities, and their defense was not credible. Therefore, the family of three young boys named Wu should jointly and severally compensate for more than 1.53 million yuan, and they can appeal.
