Illegal betting operation in 16 provinces! 6.2 billion lira money traffic

Within the scope of the illegal betting and gambling investigation carried out by the Gebze Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, in line with the findings in the report of the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK) dated April 10, 2026, it was evaluated that some people were intermediating money transfers related to various illegal betting and gambling sites. It was determined that the transactions made through the accounts were incompatible with the financial profiles of the account holders. As a result of examining the personal and company account movements of the suspects between 2023 and 2025, it was revealed that there was a total of 6 billion 235 million 761 thousand 905 lira money movement in 722 thousand 235 transactions.

A simultaneous operation was carried out at the addresses of the suspects in 16 provinces, centered in Kocaeli. 36 of the 38 suspects for whom a detention warrant was issued were detained by police teams. While 29 of the suspects, who were referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the police station, were arrested, 7 were released with judicial control measures. Efforts are continuing to capture the two fugitive suspects.
