Iran: 18 dead and 108 wounded in American bombing on several provinces

The Iranian Minister of Health said: “18 people were killed and 108 of our citizens were injured during the attacks that affected several provinces,” according to what was reported by the Iranian “Tasnim” agency.

The bombing came as part of a new round of military escalation between the United States and Iran, after weeks of relative calm that followed a temporary understanding between the two sides.

Iranian sources reported that one of the strikes hit a residential area in Serik province in Hormozgan province during a wedding ceremony, resulting in civilian deaths and injuries.

International reports confirmed that there were civilian casualties, including a child, in the attack, while Iranian sources spoke of damage to other civilian sites.

Washington justified the strikes by accusing Iran of attempts to threaten commercial navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, including seeking to plant sea mines, in addition to Iranian missile attacks targeting American forces and installations in the region.

US President Donald Trump warned Tehran that any additional response would be met with harsher US strikes.

The new confrontation comes despite a temporary understanding concluded in June with the aim of stopping the fighting and opening the way for a political settlement. However, disagreements regarding the implementation of its provisions prevented the ceasefire from being permanently stabilized.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said yesterday, Tuesday, that Tehran is ready to return to commitment to the understanding if the United States fulfills its pledges, stressing that Iran is still open to the diplomatic path.
