Democratic Progressive Party Taipei mayoral candidate Shen Boyang and current mayor Chiang Wanan have been attacking and defending the issues of drugs, clean needles and methadone substitution therapy for days. In line with the national drug prevention policy, the Taichung City Government provides "Methadone (Methadone) maintenance treatment" and "Clean needles/clean needles" harm reduction measures. There are 18 designated drug addiction institutions and drug administration points to provide convenient maintenance treatment services, and more than 50 hospitals, pharmacies and health clinics provide clean needles and recycling services to reduce the harm of infectious diseases such as AIDS.

Director of Health Zeng Zizhan said that the health bureau provides treatment for drug addicts to alleviate drug addicts' withdrawal syndrome and further help them get rid of drug addiction.
