On September 21, 2007, in Diyarbakır's Sur district, Erhan Kurt (20) was found dead on the stabilized road between the Tigris River and Çiftehavuzlar Cemetery in Hevsel Bahçeleri.
During the examination and autopsy, it was determined that Kurt died as a result of mechanical asphyxia due to ligature strangulation. While the ligature used in the incident was not found, no alcohol or drugs were found in Kurt's blood, and no DNA belonging to another person was found in his nail samples.
Kurt's family said that he went to the coffeehouse with his father, Ali Kurt, around 19.00-19.15 the night before the incident, and then left his father, saying he would visit his friends, and was never heard from again.
Ali Kurt, R.Ç., S.K., who are considered to be connected to the incident. and Y.K. Communication detection measures were implemented. However, as evidence could not be obtained, an additional decision was made on June 9, 2013, stating that there was no need for prosecution, and the file was placed under permanent search.
Following the establishment of the Unsolved Crimes Investigation Department within the General Directorate of Criminal Affairs of the Ministry of Justice on April 24, 2026, the Erhan Kurt file was also re-examined. Due to contradictions in the statements of the suspect and witnesses, O.K. and Kurt's mother A.K. A decision was made to detect communication about him.
While the decision to restrict the file was made by the Diyarbakır 4th Criminal Judgeship of Peace dated June 8, 2026, the GSM lines belonging to the suspects and the victim and the HTS records of the lines installed on the devices were obtained and analyzed. In the report of the Forensic Medicine Institute, it was evaluated that the death occurred 6-12 hours before the body was found at 07.30-08.00.
Witness A.Ç., whose statement was taken again within the scope of the investigation, said that Erhan Kurt left the house with his father on the evening of the incident, and that his father had a bag containing electrical materials in his hand and said that he was going to work. The witness also stated that during the night, the victim's mother, A.K., cried out saying that her son had been killed.
In the HTS investigation, it was determined that A.Ç. had a phone conversation with Erhan Kurt's father, Ali Kurt, around 00:00. In his statement, Ali Kurt stated that he went to the coffeehouse after leaving home with his son Erhan Kurt and then returned home.
Witness H.Ö. He stated that around 00:00 in the morning, Erhan Kurt's mother A.K. cried saying that her son was missing, and around 06.30-07:00 in the morning, she cried out saying "They killed my son in the evening."
In the evaluation of the investigation file, the fact that father Ali Kurt was recorded at 20.36 at the Alipaşa base station, which also received the signal from the area where the body was found, that his statement that he went to the hospital was not supported by HTS records, and that the size of the cable used in the incident matched the material used in electrical work were among the issues that increased suspicion.
The teams conducting the investigation evaluated the available findings and witness statements and came to the conclusion that the murder was committed by the suspects due to a domestic issue.
Within the scope of the investigation, Erhan Kurt's father Ali Kurt and his mothers A.K., O.K., S.K., Y.K. and R.Ç. were caught and detained in a simultaneous operation carried out at their addresses in Diyarbakır and Batman on October 2.
Father Ali Kurt, one of the suspects who was referred to the courthouse after the procedures, was arrested by the court and sent to prison. ARROW. and S.K. were given house arrest, while the other suspects, including his mother A.K., were released with a judicial control order.
