Korea Sports Promotion Foundation holds a ceremony commemorating the 38th anniversary of the 1988 Seoul Olympics and Paralympics

Merit plaques to the late Minister of Sports Kim Jip and the late Paralympic Organizing Committee Chairman Go Gwi-nam.

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Bae Jin-nam = The Korea Sports Promotion Foundation held a ceremony commemorating the 38th anniversary of the 1988 Seoul Olympic and Paralympic Games at the Seoul Olympic Parktel in Songpa-gu, Seoul on the 17th.

About 400 people attended the event, including Chairman Ha Hyung-joo, executives and employees of the Korea Sports Corporation, the Seoul Olympic and Paralympic Organizing Committee, and volunteer association officials.

At the commemorative ceremony, plaques of merit were awarded to the late former Sports Minister Kim Jip, who led the Korean national team at the Seoul Olympics, the late Seoul Paralympic Organizing Committee Chairman Go Gwi-nam, who led the successful hosting of the Games through dedicated efforts, and Kim I-jung, head of the central headquarters of the Korean People's Association in Japan.

Next, the awards ceremony for the '88 Seoul Olympic and Paralympic Photo Contest', which was held for about two months starting last July, was held.

The grand prize went to Cheol-hee Lee, who submitted a photo titled ‘The national wheelchair player became my older sister,’ which captures her memories of working as a volunteer at the Seoul Paralympic Games.

Prior to the awards ceremony, generative artificial intelligence (AI) was used to create and present content that made the people and scenes in the 13 winning photos come to life.

A scholarship ceremony was also held for the children of the Korean National Association in Japan, who raised funds to successfully host the first Olympic and Paralympic Games in their home country.

A total of 100 million won in scholarships were awarded to 21 college students studying in their home countries.
