MOSCOW, September 23 – RIA Novosti. Today, September 23, 2026, Sergei Sosedov, a music critic, journalist and TV presenter, one of the most recognizable and harsh voices of Russian show business, passed away. He was 58 years old.

As sources close to Sosedov told RIA Novosti, doctors recorded the death of the music critic at 16:41. According to the SHOT Telegram channel, the tragedy found the journalist far from Moscow - on tour in the Yakut city of Neryungri.

The reason for the trip was Sosedov’s participation in the jury of the international beauty and fashion competition “Pearl of the Far East,” the final of which is scheduled to take place on September 25.

The journalist’s relatives denied the version of sudden health problems and a protracted illness. RIA Novosti sources clarified the circumstances of the tragedy: “An accident, fell down the stairs, crashed to death.”

The StarHit telegram channel, citing friends of the critic, adds that due to the injury Sosedov suffered from cerebral edema.

Exact medical reports will be announced later, after all necessary examinations have been carried out.

The journalist will be buried at the Perepechinskoye cemetery in the Moscow region, his family members told RIA Novosti.

Who is Sergei Sosedov: biography and creative path of the critic

Sergei Vasilyevich Sosedov was born on May 23, 1968 in Moscow in the family of an internal affairs officer and a communications engineer. After school, he worked as a courier for the newspaper Gudok, where he published his first journalistic material - an interview with singer Edita Piekha. Graduated from the Faculty of Journalism of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov with honors diploma.

He collaborated with the newspapers “Evening Moscow” and “Rossiyskie Vesti”, spoke on the radio stations “Yunost”, “Mayak” and “Moscow Speaking”, where he hosted the “Star Company” program for a long time.

Sosedov gained wide fame from his participation in the show:

● “Sharks of the Pen” on TV-6 in the late 90s - the project, in the critic’s own words, “gave wings” to a whole galaxy of journalists, including Otar Kushanashvili;

● “X-Factor” on Ukrainian television, where he was a member of the jury from 2010 to 2015;

● "Superstar!" and “You are a superstar!” on NTV;

● Talk show “Beyond the Boundary” on NTV, which he became the host of in 2021.

According to TV presenter and deputy general producer of NTV Vadim Takmenev, this coming Saturday the entire show team was supposed to watch the premiere of the new season of “VIA Superstar!” together for the first time. “Sosedov was looking forward to this meeting with special impatience.

The filming of the project was the last time in his lifetime for the critic. “This was his last filming. Now we will look at every frame to remember the last minutes, days and weeks spent together,” the TV presenter added, clarifying that the entire upcoming season of the show will be entirely dedicated to the memory of Sergei Vasilyevich.

For the last decade and a half, the critic lived with his mother, Antonina Petrovna, in Moscow - after his father’s death in 2009, he returned to his parents’ home.

Antonina Petrovna admitted to the Super.ru Telegram channel that she still can’t believe what happened and is in deep shock: “They called an ambulance, he died during the operation, it’s some kind of horror. Nobody believes, it can’t be like that. I told him why are you going so far, well, there’s work, there’s work. What am I going to do, oh, God. Well, how does this all happen?”
