US and allies complete operation against ISIS in Iraq

The United States and its allies completed Operation Inherent Resolve in Iraq, aimed against the terrorist group Islamic State (IS, ISIS; a terrorist organization banned in Russia). The Pentagon reported this.

“Today, the United States and our international coalition partners officially ended Operation Inherent Resolve in Iraq, consistent with (...) U.S. national interests. This milestone reflects the success of the 12-year campaign to defeat the Islamic State as an organized military threat in Iraq and throughout the region.

The Pentagon hopes that in the future the Iraqi security forces will take all necessary measures to ensure the security of the country and suppress the remnants of the terrorist organization without the direct participation of coalition troops.
