Three former South Korean officials from the Moon Jae-in administration appealed an appellate ruling sentencing them to suspended prison terms for the 2019 forced repatriation of two North Korean fishermen.

The Supreme Court issued an arrest warrant in the appellate trial of Ms. Kim Kun-hee's alleged 'selling magic' case, which is about to expire at the end of this month, and extended the detention period by two months until the end of this year.

Former security line officials Jeong Eui-yong, Seo Hoon, and Kim Yeon-cheol, who were sentenced to suspended prison sentences in the second trial for the forcibly repatriation of North Korean fishermen who escaped from North Korea, appealed the decision to the Supreme Court.

The Serious Crimes Investigation Office claimed that the investigative agency has exclusive authority to file cases under the leniency system for voluntary reporters of collusion. This is due to a conflict of authority between the two agencies as the Public Prosecution Office revised related guidelines.

The Public Prosecution Service requested 1 year and 6 months in prison for former Korea Communications Standards Commission Chairman Ryu Hee-rim, who was indicted on charges of perjury to the National Assembly. Former Chairman Ryu refuted the content of the Google interview and whether he reported his brother's civil complaint, saying it was not intentional perjury, and the sentencing hearing will be held on December 1.

Four days before the expiration of her arrest, First Lady Kim Kun-hee was interrogated by the Supreme Court for an arrest warrant in connection with a suspected salesmanship case. Ms. Kim complained of injustice and requested release for treatment purposes, and the special prosecutor's team emphasized the need to extend her detention, citing concerns about escape and destruction of evidence.
