Toei bus driver sent to prosecutors on suspicion of reckless driving, driving too close and honking his horn

It has been learned that the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department has referred a male Tokyo Metropolitan bus driver (40) to the public prosecutor's office on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Act (obstructive driving) for driving in the direction of a regular vehicle while driving a route bus in October last year. At the time, the bus was on its way and there were no passengers, and no one was injured. According to the Metropolitan Transportation Bureau, the man received an administrative penalty in May of this year that had his driver's license revoked.

According to people involved in the investigation, the suspect is accused of violating his duty to drive safely on a prefectural road in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo at around 6:10 p.m. on October 28, last year, by swerving in front of a general vehicle that had just changed direction.

According to the Komagome Police Station and the Metropolitan Transportation Bureau, the drivers also honked their horns and hurried past them unnecessarily. The bus's drive recorder reportedly recorded the driver's voice saying, "You idiot."

The Metropolitan Police Department has not disclosed whether the male driver admitted the crime or the date the documents were sent to prosecutors.

The driver of the car that had been hit by the reckless driver called 911, and the incident was discovered.

The Metropolitan Transportation Bureau dispatched police on the same day.
