Manchester United draws with Everton 2-2 in the English Premier League

Michael Carrick, coach of Manchester United, expressed his sadness after his team fell into a draw with its host Everton, in the third round of the English Premier League, indicating at the same time that he seeks to develop the team’s level.

Manchester United returned to scoring points in the English Premier League, after drawing 2-2 in the last moments with its host Everton, on Sunday.

Cameroonian Brian Mbeumo scored for Manchester United in the 46th minute, but Tyreek George equalized for Everton in the 83rd minute, but Slovenian Benjamin Sisko restored the lead for the team nicknamed the “Red Devils” in the 88th minute.

While everyone was preparing for the match to end with a win for Manchester United, Ainsley Maitland-Niles scored the fatal equalizer for Everton in the sixth (final) minute of stoppage time for the second half, so each team got one point.

With this result, Manchester United's score rose to 4 points in eleventh place, one point behind Everton, in eighth place, which has maintained its unbeaten record so far in the competition.

Carrick told reporters after the match: “We can always improve, but I think we managed the match to the best of our ability.” In the end, we pulled back a little bit, but it happens. We are here to learn and strive to develop.”

Carrick commented on Everton's comeback in the result, saying: “They were extremely focused, especially in the last minutes. We did our best and blocked every shot. By the way, it was a great goal. The ball went into the top corner of the goal. We have to accept the result and respond in the next match.”

The United coach explained: “There were many positive aspects in the match for us. We played great football, but we were dangerous at times. We defended well as a team for most of the match.”

He continued: “As time passed, crosses into the penalty area increased, and we made some decisions that made things more difficult for us, while we were supposed to decide the match in our favor. “We are disappointed not to win.”

When asked about the mistakes made by his team, Carrick replied: “I will keep it to myself for a little while, but we should have decided the match in our favor, so we are disappointed.”

Carrick touched on Everton's two goals, saying: “There were two great shots, frankly. We did not give them clear chances. We defended well. They had some chances on the edge of the penalty area.”

Carrick stressed at the end of his speech: “We defended inside the penalty area well for most of the match. “We will look into the reasons why they had those chances, but they were really great shots.”

United opened its journey in the current season of the competition, which has been absent from its coffers since the 2012-2013 season, with a surprise 0-2 loss to its host Hull City, which is returning to the tournament again, before achieving a major victory 5-2 over its guest Ipswich Town, who also advanced to the competition coming from the first division (Championship).
