The third phase project of Dongguan Rail Transit Line 2 starts track laying

On the morning of June 30, as the first rail section of the track laying base at Humen Avenue Station was slowly hoisted and placed, the track laying construction of the third phase of Dongguan Rail Transit Line 2 officially kicked off, marking that this core rail transit trunk line connecting Dongguan Humen and Binhai Bay New Area and docking with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has officially entered a new stage of track laying construction.

The third phase of Dongguan Rail Transit Line 2 is a key infrastructure project in Guangdong Province and Dongguan City. It is also the core line that extends the first and second phases of Dongguan Rail Transit's backbone line Line 2 to the south and connects to the Marina Bay. The total length of the line is about 17.13 kilometers. It starts from the Humen Railway Station, the terminus of Line 2's first and second phases, and has a total of 9 underground stations. The site layout takes into account core areas such as residential areas, business districts, industrial parks and railway hubs along the line. After the project is completed, it will be in operation with the first and second phases of Line 2, transfer with the Shenzhen-Shenzhen Railway at Binhai Bay Station, transfer with the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong High-speed Railway and the Suzhou-Shenzhen Intercity Railway at Humen Railway Station. In the future, it will also transfer with the planned Dongguan Line 3, Shenzhen Line 20, Guangzhou Line 22 and other rail transit lines, which will greatly enhance the efficiency of connectivity within the towns and streets along the lines.

Since the construction of the third phase of Dongguan Rail Transit Line 2 started in August 2022, it has overcome multiple challenges such as complex geology and difficult construction, and has efficiently promoted station construction, section shield tunneling and other work. At present, 7 shield sections have been connected and the main structures of 6 stations have been capped, providing conditions for track laying.

After successfully achieving the goal of the first track laying node, there will be three track laying bases along the entire line to carry out track laying construction operations. It is expected that the track laying from Humen Railway Station to Binhai Bay Station will be completed this year.

In the next step, Dongguan Rail Transit Group will take this first track laying as a new starting point and vigorously promote the quality and efficiency of the entire track laying work on the basis of ensuring safety and quality. At the same time, we will accelerate the orderly connection of follow-up links such as station electromechanical installation, decoration projects, and strong and weak current construction, strictly control key construction period nodes, and create high-quality projects with higher standards and more practical measures to help accelerate the construction of a modern new Dongguan that is "intelligent, high-quality, harmonious, and livable."
