CPC commissioned a new remote mooring device VPU-2

The Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) put into operation a new remote mooring unit (WPU-2) to replace the one that was out of service last fall, according to the company’s message.

One of the three remote berthing facilities of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium CPC (VPU-2) was destroyed at the end of November last year as a result of a “targeted terrorist attack by unmanned boats” on the consortium’s oil terminal in the Black Sea, the consortium reported.

“In August 2026, the installation of a new remote mooring device, VPU-2, was completed at the CPC Marine Terminal. The equipment passed successful hydrotests and was put into operation,” says the CPC corporate publication.

The CPC oil pipeline system is the largest route for transporting oil from the Caspian region to world markets and the main route for Kazakhstan, accounting for more than 80% of the country's oil exports. The 1,500-kilometer pipeline connects the fields of Western Kazakhstan with the Black Sea coast, where oil is loaded onto tankers through the CPC sea terminal.
