Floor Leader Jeong said this at the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly, saying, “That is the first step in responding to the public sentiment in the June 3 local elections.”

He emphasized, "The Democratic Party must officially withdraw its previously declared policy of monopolizing the 18 standing committees and restore the practice of 'checks and balances' in which the Speaker of the National Assembly is the first party and the Chairman of the Legislative and Judiciary Committee is the second party."

He also asked President Lee Jae-myung to "officially declare that he will give up the cancellation of the indictment," and emphasized, "President Lee must immediately withdraw his attempt to cancel the indictment, which would eliminate his trial, which is against the law and common sense."

Regarding the unprecedented shortage of ballot papers, floor leader Jeong said, "The controversy surrounding the National Election Commission is not simply a shortage of ballot papers, but the June 3 deprivation of people's right to vote," and criticized, "The National Election Commission has been responding with incomprehensible incompetence ever since this incident occurred."

He went on to point out, “What kind of citizen would understand the National Election Commission, which says they don’t know where the ballot storage box has disappeared to?” and added, “It was a violation of the people’s right to vote that should never have happened.”

At the same time, he urged, "In order to thoroughly uncover the truth, there should be a national investigation led by the People Power Party, chaired by the opposition party and composed of equal numbers of members from the ruling and opposition parties," and added, "I hope the government and ruling party give up the trick of a joint investigation and accept a special prosecutor."

Meanwhile, regarding the deepening conflict over the responsibility of Representative Jang Dong-hyuk after his defeat in the local elections, floor leader Jeong said, "Now is a critical time. It is time for all of us to come together as one for the party, the country, and the people."

He was elected as floor leader the day before and attended the highest meeting for the first time.
