The husband of a woman who disappeared 20 years ago has been arrested in the United States.

In the United States, police have detained the husband of a woman who disappeared 20 years ago. KTLA reports.

According to investigators, California resident Jill Mallorca, who was 29 years old at the time of her disappearance, was the victim of a massacre in November 2006. In 2007, she was put on the wanted list. The breakthrough in the case came on October 28, 2020, when a Big Bear Lake Township resident reported a suspicious discovery in the crawl space of his home. Arriving law enforcement officers discovered human remains, but it was not possible to establish the identity of the deceased, and the case was suspended.

In 2023, the Cold Case Unit resumed work and sent the remains for advanced DNA testing, which determined they belonged to Jill Mallorca. Detectives named her husband, Jeff Majorca, as the prime suspect, although specific evidence implicating him has not been released. Jeff, who filed for divorce back in 2004, was arrested on Monday, September 21, and booked into the High Desert Jail without bail.

The investigation does not yet have information about the motive for the crime and the exact time that the body lay in the underground. It is also unknown how exactly the remains ended up in the house. The investigation is ongoing.
