When President Lai Ching-te met with the "Returning Visiting Delegation of the Taiwan Association in Asia" today, he said that Taiwan's economic growth rate this year will exceed 11%, and it is expected to enter the world's 20th largest economy next year; the "three major investment plans in Taiwan" have been extended to next year, and have been expanded to apply to Taiwanese businessmen and foreign businessmen around the world. More Taiwanese businessmen and foreign businessmen are welcome to bring rich experience and resources to Taiwan, so that Taiwan can continue to move towards the world.
Lai Ching-te said that the Taiwanese Association in Japan has been established for more than 80 years and has witnessed the steady development of Taiwan-Japan relations; the Federation of Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce in Malaysia has connected local Taiwanese businessmen, grasped the pulse of the industry and market, and promoted bilateral economic and trade exchanges to a higher level; the Taiwanese Association in the Philippines has become an important force in people-to-people exchanges between Taiwan and the Philippines. The three overseas Chinese groups have jointly allowed Taiwan to have more exchanges with the world, and also allowed more friends to know and understand Taiwan, and then support Taiwan.
Lai Ching-te pointed out that with the joint efforts of all Taiwanese people, Taiwan's economic growth rate was 8.76% last year and 14.15% in the first half of this year, the highest record in half a century. The annual economic growth rate is estimated to exceed 11%, the best result in 39 years. It is estimated that Taiwan will enter the world's top 20 economies next year. In this year's world competitiveness rankings, Taiwan ranked fourth in the world, its best result in history.
Lai Ching-te pointed out that in the face of the challenges of the AI era, we must continue to strengthen our capabilities. The government is actively promoting the "Ten New AI Construction Projects" and aims to cultivate at least 500,000 AI application talents by 2040, promote smart applications in various industries, build Taiwan into an "artificial intelligence island", and assist millions of small and medium-sized enterprises to smoothly transform smartly and enhance their competitiveness. At the same time, they are committed to developing three key technologies such as quantum computing, silicon photonics and robotics, so that Taiwan can grasp global technology trends and maintain its leading edge in the new era.
Lai Ching-te said that on the second anniversary of his inauguration on 520, he announced the establishment of a 100 billion yuan transformation and upgrading development fund for small, medium and micro enterprises to enhance competitiveness together. He hopes that not only the high-tech industry will make money, but also small, medium and micro enterprises. When large and small enterprises work together, and technology and traditional industries work side by side, Taiwan's economy can go forward in the long run and society can develop stably.
Lai Ching-te said that on the road to strengthening Taiwan, more Taiwanese and foreign businessmen are welcome to bring their rich experience and resources to Taiwan. Therefore, the "Three Major Plans for Investing in Taiwan" promoted by the government have been extended until next year, and their scope of application has been expanded to Taiwanese and foreign businessmen around the world. It is hoped to encourage enterprises to strengthen investment and transformation, so that Taiwan's industries will be more powerful and go global.
Lai Ching-te emphasized that Taiwan will continue to deepen cooperation with other countries, and the overseas Chinese community plays an indispensable role. In particular, Japan, Malaysia, and the Philippines are all important exchange countries for Taiwan. As we continue to strengthen Taiwan's development conditions, we also need advanced overseas Chinese to help Taiwan enhance understanding and expand exchanges and cooperation with other countries. We look forward to working together in the future to allow Taiwan to continue to go global and shine on the international stage.
