China News Service, September 28. From September 26 to 27, the 15th Annual Conference on Chinese Film History was held in Taiyuan, Shanxi. This annual conference was co-sponsored by the China Film Archive (China Film Art Research Center) and Shanxi Normal University. The theme was "Film History in Social History: Chinese Experience·Local Position·Field Methods". Nearly 200 experts and scholars participated in the conference and exchanged views.

On the morning of September 26, Zhang Xiaotang, deputy director of the Propaganda Department of the Shanxi Provincial Party Committee, attended the opening ceremony. He congratulated the 15th Annual Conference on Chinese Film History in Shanxi and extended his sincere welcome to the participating scholars. Qin Zhengui, deputy director of the Central Propaganda Film Bureau and director of the China Film Archive, delivered a speech on behalf of the organizers. He pointed out that the topic selection of this annual conference adheres to the people's view of literary and artistic history, relies on the perspective of social history to return to the scene of film history, activates multiple narratives based on local experience, and broadens the boundaries of historical research with the help of field surveys. The topic selection direction has important academic value and deserves full recognition. He encouraged experts and scholars to work hard to produce more explanatory results, so that Chinese experience can be better explained and disseminated, and the historical narrative of Chinese films can be more disseminated and influential.

Ren Xiaowei, President of Shanxi Normal University, said in his speech that the theme of this annual conference is in line with the research direction of the school, and he hopes that the academic community will pay attention to Shanxi's local film and television historical materials and deepen cooperation in the exploration and compilation of relevant documents. Shanxi Normal University will take the opportunity of hosting the annual conference to promote the construction of first-class disciplines in art, especially the high-quality development of drama and film and television disciplines, further consolidate the direction, introduce talents, build a strong team platform, and improve the collaborative mechanism of teaching, scientific research, creation and social services.

Over the years, the China Film History Annual Conference has strict academic standards, always implements blind review, strictly controls the quality of academic results, and focuses on cultivating and motivating outstanding young scholars. It is reported that this annual meeting received a total of nearly 400 valid submitted papers. After strict plagiarism checking and five rounds of anonymous blind review by 32 experts, 86 outstanding papers were finally selected for presentation at the annual meeting, taking into account factors such as topic repetition rate and freshness. The number of applicants and the number of paper submissions both hit record highs, with young scholars accounting for 80%, demonstrating the vigorous new force in the study of Chinese film history.
During the two days, the twelve sub-forums of the annual conference conducted full discussions from many angles such as media archeology, film history, mobile screening, theoretical analysis, film criticism research, and international communication. This annual meeting also specially added a national film core academic journal seminar, with the theme of "running journals based on characteristics and gathering strength for coordinated development". A number of editors-in-chief and representatives of important academic journals conducted exchanges around journal features, academic standard construction, future development plans, etc., discussed journal linkage cooperation and academic co-construction, and promoted the standardization, quality and high-quality development of film academic journals.

As the brand unit of the China Film History Annual Conference, the "Academic Screening" session of this annual conference screened 11 precious films to the participants, including "Rouge Tears", "The Voice of the Monkey in the Hollow", "Aviation to Save the Nation", etc. In addition to the precious collections of the China Film Archive, there are also precious collections provided by the Shanghai Audiovisual Archive and the Hong Kong Film Archive of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
