A suspect in the murder of a pregnant girl in 2009 was arrested in the Kaliningrad region

In the Kaliningrad region in 2009, the body of a 22-year-old pregnant girl with multiple stab wounds was discovered in the Polessk park.

Thanks to new forensic capabilities, it was possible to establish the involvement of the 60-year-old accused in the murder.

The man was detained and taken into custody; a set of investigative actions is ongoing in the criminal case.

MOSCOW, September 11 - RIA Novosti. The court arrested a man who stabbed to death a pregnant 22-year-old girl in the Kaliningrad region in 2009, the press service of the Russian Investigative Committee told RIA Novosti.

It was established that on May 10, 2009, the body of a 22-year-old local resident was found in the Polessk park with multiple stab wounds in the chest, back and neck; she was in late pregnancy.

It is noted that for a long time the crime remained unsolved, however, thanks to new forensic capabilities, olfactory forensic examination established the presence of the scent of a 60-year-old accused on the victim’s clothes, seized during the initial investigative actions. In addition, during a psychophysiological study using a polygraph, reactions were revealed in him indicating his direct participation in the murder of a pregnant girl.

According to the investigation, on the night of May 10, 2009, a drunk man in the park had an argument with a local resident; during the conflict, the attacker inflicted multiple blows on her with a folding knife in the chest, neck and back, after which he disappeared.

Based on this fact, a criminal case is being investigated for the murder of a woman, known to the perpetrator to be in a state of pregnancy, committed with particular cruelty (points “d”, “e” of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

“Currently, the man has been detained, interrogated, and charged. At the request of an investigator from the Russian Investigative Committee, the court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of detention for the accused,” the department said.
