Xianning, Hubei Province launches unified destruction of infringing, counterfeit and shoddy goods across the province in 2026

China News Service, Xianning, September 10 (Zhang Yongkang) The Hubei Provincial Quality Provincial Working Committee Office, the Provincial Market Supervision Bureau, together with the Provincial Public Security Department, the Provincial Tobacco Monopoly Bureau and other departments, launched a unified destruction operation of infringing, counterfeit and shoddy goods in the province in 2026 in Xianning, Hubei on the 10th. A total of more than 2.8 million infringing, counterfeit and shoddy goods were destroyed, with a value of more than 31 million yuan.

It is reported that 18 categories of commodities were destroyed in this operation, including food and drugs, tobacco and alcohol products, daily chemical products, clothing and bags, auto parts, electronic appliances, measuring instruments, gas stoves, etc. The destruction process strictly follows the requirements for harmless treatment, and adopts environmentally friendly methods such as dismantling, crushing, incineration, and landfilling. Law enforcement personnel supervise the entire process to ensure complete destruction and prevent backflow.

In recent years, Hubei Province has continued to maintain a high-pressure stance in cracking down on infringement and counterfeiting. Multiple departments have coordinated efforts to further promote special operations such as "Iron Fist", "Kunlun" and "Qingyuan Chain Break", effectively safeguarding market order and the legitimate rights and interests of consumers.

Since 2025, the Hubei Provincial Market Supervision Department has investigated and dealt with 40,000 cases of infringement and counterfeiting, with a case value of 790 million yuan, and transferred 1,051 suspected criminal cases to the public security organs; the public security organs have investigated 1,248 criminal cases of infringement and counterfeiting , 2,237 suspects were arrested, and 257 counterfeiting gangs were eliminated; the tobacco system investigated and dealt with 16,800 cases of infringement and counterfeit cigarettes, 122.8 million counterfeit cigarettes, with a marked value of 177 million yuan, and 1,579 cases were transferred to the public security organs.

In the next step, the Hubei Provincial Market Supervision Bureau will work with relevant departments to continue to promote special actions such as "protect consumption" and "protect intellectual property rights", focus on key areas and key regions, strengthen the connection between executions and departmental linkage, severely punish illegal infringement and counterfeiting, and effectively create a safe and secure consumption environment and a fair and orderly market environment.
